portraitXconcordia
A collaborative empathy project

Page Title

The portraitXconcordia exhibition is the culmination of a collaborative project between Concordia Fine Arts students and Lauren Hill Academy students, facilitated through the non-profit organization Raison d'art. The high school students received adapted versions of their portrait workshops, in which they learned about Canadian Art, media literacy skills, and social emotional development.

The project centers empathy as its guiding theme, using portraiture to explore the emotional landscapes of participants. Through the interactive tools in the portrait app, Lauren Hill students

'remixed' and digitally worked with portraits created by Concordia artists. This activity encourages and inspires creation, while exploring the role of art in fostering understanding and empathy across diverse communities. This collaborative art initiative event builds bridges between academic and public art education through creative expression and critical dialogue.
